'Rethinking teamwork' offers a fresh research-informed approach to building successful teams.

Over the last 10 years teambuilding and teamwork as concepts have been transformed. The days of building wooden rafts and newspaper towers with colleagues, without any analysis or reflection, have gone. There is now an understanding that personal critical evaluation is crucial for learning.

Rethinking teamwork provides an opportunity for participants to acquire theoretical and empirical knowledge on group performance from organisational psychology. Participants will build an appreciation about how team processes impact organisational performance.

Objectives

  • Investigate what characterises successful teams and provide an opportunity for participants to gain an understanding of the principle of effective teamwork
  • Understand the correlation between individual success and team success
  • Evaluate teamwork concepts and theories
  • See the value and benefits of teamwork and collaboration
  • Introduce participants to the latest research in social and organisational psychology
  • Engage participants in teamwork activities that are informative, educational and of value in their context
  • See a significant increase in open communication, motivation and a decrease in interpersonal conflict
